Bingo officially begins Monday

Greenetrack in Eutaw will open its doors Monday for bingo gaming.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Monday at 2 p.m. as the facility opens for bingo 24-hours-a day, seven days a week.

Greenetrack will operate bingo for a group of different non-profit charities in Greene County led by the county volunteer fire department association, said Sheriff Johnny L. Isaac. Only non-profit organizations can receive bingo licenses in Greene County.

The facility recently announced a $5 million renovation to prepare the facility for bingo. The first floor will feature 400 video bingo machines, and the third floor will feature electronic and paper bingo with seating for 300 people.

The facility held pre-employment orientation Dec. 15 and 16 for prospective employees to prepare for bingo gaming. Over 100 residents of Greene County attended the orientation said track officials. Positions were available as customer service representatives, bingo staff, security personnel, valets, and in the area of housekeeping, food service, the gift shop and maintenance.

The positions are to pay well above minimum wage, track officials said.

Billboards promoting bingo at Greenetrack had already been seen in Tuscaloosa in the last week.

Sheriff Isaac has been monitoring the renovations at Greentrack and will inspect the game rooms this weekend before bingo gaming begins Monday.

A bingo parlor in Greene County can award up to $10,000 per session.
