LEGION LINES
Bingo players are invited to the Legion bingo next Tuesday, Dec. 23 to enjoy some extra "treats".
It will be the annual appreciation night with draws for some extra prizes, candy, oranges and free coffee. Everyone is welcome.
Remember this Saturday, Dec. 20, will be 'potluck' for supper at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome, just bring your favourite dish and your appetite.
Thanks to all those who made our Legion Christmas party Saturday a huge success with more than 70 in attendance. Thanks to the "jolly old elf" who came with gifts. (especially the one for Roy!) Thank you to "the band" of Gary Cory, Al Labelle, Pat Miskiman, Paul Gingara and Jack Paisley who provided music of the season as well as some old dance favourites.
Thank you to Comrade Laurie Lyons for making food arrangements, it was great! Winner of the jacket draw was Annette Bannister.
Another thank-you to the work crew who helped with the Christmas banquet for the museum and to Comrade George King for picking up the vegetables. A special thanks to the Air Cadet parents who came in to do clean-up... the toughest job!
Remember Legion sports get underway in January with District curling hosted by our branch on Jan. 23-25 and Zone darts on Sat. Jan. 31 also in Nipawin.
Get well wishes to some of our Comrades... Gary Cory sporting a jolly, Christmas bag over his cast; Tony Houk, on the limp and Lloyd Ulvick who made an unexpected trip to Saskatoon last week.
Another reminder to those who have brought down photos for the wall. Please pick them up from the table in the lounge. The Friswells report there are now over 300 up on the wall!
For those who want to dance the New Year in, the Happy Harvesters will be holding a New Year's eve dance at the Legion.
Finally, we take this opportunity to wish all Legionnaires and their families a very happy, blessed Christmas and from the Legion a Merry Christmas to all Journal readers. Please note that the Legion will be closed Dec. 24, 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
